References and Testimonials
Over the years, I have worked with many breeds and personalities. Often enough
the training process has had to return to the most fundamental, such as ground
manners, trailer loading, and standing for the vet or farrier. This is not the
case with horses produced by New Horizons Ranch.
Foals
begin their friendship with humans, along with their education, at birth.
They are handled, shown affection, and taught consistently until they are
finally ready to be ridden. This preliminary education makes backing the horse
for the first time simply a new phase of an already well-established, trusting
relationship between horse and human. It is also evident down the road when a
rider makes a mistake or needs to be taken care of by their mount.
Their
calculated, responsible breeding program coupled with thorough preliminary
training techniques produces not only top quality horses, but also equines I am
both proud and honored to call my friends.
Thank
you New Horizons Ranch for so many wonderful and diverse horses to train and
learn from!

Heather,
I want to thank you for the care you take in
training and health of your horses.
Also, for answering the many questions I had
after purchasing Ibby, which we renamed
Takota.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciated you
working with your foals from birth when the
first night I had Takota he ended up in the
neighbor’s pasture at 6 months old. It was
dark and I went out armed only with a
flashlight and a lead rope to find him. I
called his name and he whinnied to me. I
walked up to him, hooked the lead rope to
his halter, and we walked about a half a
mile in the dark with dogs he didn’t know
following and my neighbor following us with
his truck, so we could see the road. We had
to go through 2 gates to get to the barn.
Takota was a little nervous and only
slightly side stepped once when the dogs ran
close to him. I could tell he was used to
being handled and what could’ve been tragedy
was not thanks to your training methods.
Takota is now 17 months old and is quite the
gentleman. He enjoys the tasks I put to him
and gets along very nicely with all my other
horses.
With the excellent trainer you use for your
horses and how you yourself work with the
horses, I know that your training program is
one that can be trusted. When I need another
horse I would not hesitate to purchase one
from you.
Thank you for all your hard work and I look
forward to doing business with you in the
future.

The first time I met Heather was
at a
Bill Woods Clinic. I was
attending to watch a rider on my
TB gelding in the Clinic ( as I
was
expecting a baby ). I did
a walk through at the barn and I
immediately spotted Darktanion.
WOW!! I had to know who owned
this beautiful animal. Needless
to say I was drooling over him
and missed some of my geldings
class. Later on down the road I
met up with Heather again. After
just a few minutes of speaking
with her I knew that she knew
her horse business and breeding.
I also knew that she had brought
a much needed breed to this
area. All of her crosses with
Darktanion have been phenomenal.
I've had the pleasure of riding
not only Darktanion but some of
her other awesome horses that
she owns or has for sale. Some
have been lesson horses used out
here at my stables. I've never
been on a horse of
Heathers' that was not
well behaved. I bought her TB
colt (Center
Stage Slew) when he was
only a few months old. And let
me tell you, at 2 months of age
this colt was halter broke,
leading, tying, backing, picking
up his feet for you and self
loading in the trailer!!! She
really spends a lot of quality
time with the babies so they
have manners and I don't know
many people (if any) who
imprints their foals as well as
Heather. I look forward to
having a Darktanion baby in the
near future :)

I have been a trainer, competitor,
instructor and breeder over a period of
thirty-five year's and have been
fortunate enough to have ridden many
great horse's. I have also schooled
under the direction of some of the
greatest trainer's in the United State's
as well as abroad, people like Major
Hector Carmona, John Winnett, Locke
Richard's a coach for the New Zealand
3-day team, Wolfgang Delefont and
Dr. Anna Becker Peterson a former
student of
Dr. Reiner Klimke.
It has been my pleasure to have
worked with the
Friesian stallion Darktanion,
this is a very athletic horse with the
mind and work ethic we only wished all
horse's had, his crossing on Arabian's
and Thoroughbred's are superb! His son
Tanion a thoroughbred cross is a real
delight to work with, great conformation
and excellent mover and has that same
kind heart and work ethic of his sire. I
believe this cross produces an elegant
sport horse with bone, substance,
good movement and the attitude for
amateur's to succeed at all levels of
performance disciplines and having a lot
of fun attaining their goals.
Continued success with the breeding
program at New Horizon Ranch.

Wanted to thank you again for allowing
Darktanion to be a part of our wedding day! He is such a gorgeous boy and so
well mannered to get along so well with all the festivities, music, people,
cameras, (girl in a big pouffy dress climbing around on his back). He was such a
gentleman through all of it and just gave such a fairytale look to the wedding
and the photos! Heather and Jan did such an outstanding job making everything go
smoothly and going the extra mile to add all the little finishing touches! Thank
you guys again from the bottom of my heart! You've made a horse girl's dream
wedding come true!
Thanks again!
Bethany and David.
Anna (9 y.o.) and Emma (7 y.o.) have
been using various
New Horizons Ranch horses for
almost 2 years for riding lessons. The
horses are gentle and well trained with
just the right amount of spunk for
inexperienced, young riders. Being
unfamiliar with the equestrian
community, it is great to have someone
like Heather to answer all of our many
questions. It is obvious when talking
to Heather how much she loves her
horses. The girls never tire or
complain about going to riding lessons.
Thanks, Heather, for sharing your
beautiful horses with us.
